My girlfriend has recently started making chainmail jewelry. I thought some of her work was very impressive, so I decided to share it with everyone. It’s amazing what she can make out of jump rings!
Once she has a few rows prepared, she links them together to form a pattern.
As she gets further along, the number of piles of jump rings increases. Each pile still represents a row on the heart. On an interesting note, “jump” rings really do jump. They are put under tension to open and close them, and if the pliers slip they go flying. On a related note, they are nearly impossible to find on carpeted flooring.
About an hour later, she’s getting close to being done. One of the lobes of the heart is finished, and the other still needs to be attached.
Another half hour and she’s finished. Here’s the result of this project!
At the top of this page, you can see some more of her work. Using a similar pattern to this heart, she can make butterflies as well!
We are considering setting up an Etsy Store to sell these online. Has anyone done this, and if so, do you have any tips to share?
